Briquette industry guide
Thinking of your own briquette brand? Understand the job first.
Guide first, maker second.
A guide for brand owners, distributors and new businesses in coconut charcoal briquettes: how contract making works, packing, quality figures that do not always match, export, and machine or contract maker. Kora is one of the producers discussed. MOQ, price and lead time always come in a written quotation from whichever maker you choose.
Four common steps to a briquette under your own brand
- Start here
Brief
Tell us shape, pack weight, brand or artwork, destination market and expected monthly volume. A short note is enough.
- Check it
Samples
The maker produces samples from your brief. Test the burn, the ash, the shape and the pack, then send notes back.
- Ask first
Quotation
MOQ, price, lead time and commercial terms are written down. Compare quotations from more than one maker.
- Go
Production
Production starts after you approve the samples and the quotation. Goods ship with the agreed documents.
Pick a shape
Three examples from Kora's shape list
-
Cube
A cube-shaped block. Ask about size and weight, then test a sample.
-
Hexagon
Six sides, some with a hole in the middle. Ask about size and weight.
-
Pillow
A pillow-shaped block. One of the nine moulds on Kora's product page.
Data not available yet · Cartoon drawings, not product sizes and not performance claims. Available shapes are confirmed by sales.
Shapes & packagingWhat to get ready
Not everything yet? That is fine, it can follow.
- Sample artwork or the brand name (can follow later).
- Expected first volume and target market.
- Any limits you need, for example on ash or burn time.
- One person who approves samples and the quotation.
Product already in your head?
Write down your first requirements and ask several makers for a quotation. Kora is welcome in the comparison if you want it there.

About Kora: what is stated, and what is set at quotation
As one example of a producer: Kora's product pages say private label is available and that briquettes are pressed in-house. The rest is set at quotation.
- Stated on Kora's product pages: private label available, grades A/B/C, packing in 1 kg and 10 kg master cartons, documents with each shipment (COA, phytosanitary, certificate of origin, packing list, B/L).
- Set at quotation: MOQ, lead time, tooling cost, price and loading port.
- Not published here: Kora's production capacity and certificates. Ask any maker, and ask for the answer in documents.
